Pottery Workshops

Two shiny pinch pot monsters

I offer ceramic workshops for children ages 5-11 years old at my home studio. These sessions are perfect for families who home-school and are looking to offer their children an opportunity to get creative with clay! As well as exploring pottery making skills, they will learn about the physical properties of clay and the history of ceramics around the world.

Clay Exploration Workshops:

  • Pinch Pot Monsters - Learn a technique used for thousands of years around the world to make a pinch pot monster.

  • Clay faces - Be inspired by ceramic artists to make a realistic or abstract face tile.

  • Decorating With Nature - Hand-build a clay bowl & vase and use foraged natural materials to decorate their surface.

Local History Workshops:

  • My Local Area - Create a ceramic display of buildings inspired by local architecture in the Heatons & Stockport.

  • Hat-making Industry - Design and make a ceramic hat based on those on display in the Hat Works museum.

  • My Family Features - Explore family resemblances and turn a tile into a face, or make a ceramic bust.

Each workshop must have a minimum of two children and maximum of six.

The cost is £40 for the first 2 children and £11 for each additional child.

Up to 2 adults can accompany the children.

Workshops are also suitable for small school classes. All workshops are inspired by KS1 & KS2 curriculum topics.

If you have a project in mind which you think I can help you with, please get in touch.
